# HashiCorp's new license and Coder

On August 10th, [HashiCorp announced that future versions of their products will be licensed under BSL instead of MPL](https://www.hashicorp.com/blog/hashicorp-adopts-business-source-license). They addressed FAQs [here](https://www.hashicorp.com/license-faq).

For Coder, [FAQ#10](https://www.hashicorp.com/license-faq#What-are-the-usage-limitations-for-HashiCorp's-products-under-BSL) has the most relevant language:

> All non-production uses are permitted. All production uses are allowed other than hosting or embedding the software in an offering competitive with HashiCorp products or services.

We do not compete with a HashiCorp product, so we're compliant and will not change our roadmap or business in light of this news.

We have a good relationship with HashiCorp and hope to continue building amazing products together.
