Today’s newest mainline release is 2.19.0 (changelog), check out what’s included below. At the time of this writing, our latest stable release is 2.18.5. For more details, revisit our blog post on the 2.18 release.
Coder 2.19 is here, bringing enhancements to administration, visibility, and developer experience. Read on for updates on new notifications, improved user management, and upgrades to the Coder Registry. Check out our GitHub changelog for more details.
With this update, we’re making it easier to manage user assignments based on IdP claims. Previously, this required modifying server flags, but now admins can set up and adjust organization mappings directly in the UI. This update streamlines identity management, ensuring users are automatically placed in the right organizations without manual intervention.
As of the v0.0.10 release, you can now manage an organization's IdP sync settings as code using the coderd
Terraform provider with the coderd_organization_sync_settings
resource. This allows you to define which identity provider (IdP) groups should be mapped to organizations in your deployment. With this group-to-organization mapping, you can automatically create new organizations or populate existing ones in your control plane, ensuring a seamless and scalable way to manage access.
Receive alerts when developers create or update their workspaces, enhancing your oversight of workspace configurations. Learn how to enable notifications in our documentation.
Through our partnership with DX, you can integrate these events with PlatformX to trigger developer experience surveys at the right moment. Learn more about the PlatformX integration in our documentation.
We've addressed confusion regarding "active users" by differentiating between daily user engagement and license consumption. Administrators can now better track how user activity affects license usage, aiding in resource management.
These updates will help you answer questions like: * How many developers are actively using Coder across teams and time zones? * Are there any periods of peak usage impacting resource availability? * How close are we to exceeding our license cap, and how are our licenses being used?
For more details on how we define user status, check out our documentation.
The Coder Registry is home to a collection of templates and modules that help you create and extend Coder workspaces.
We've made architectural improvements to enhance its reliability and performance, along with launching a status page for better visibility. Additionally, we've refactored many example templates to leverage modules, improving their flexibility and readability.
If you encounter any issues with the Coder Registry, please open an issue on GitHub—we’d love your feedback!
We are happy to accept module contributions and look forward to accepting template contributions soon as we continue improving the Registry.
As always, we release bug fixes and patches throughout the month to ensure Coder continues to run smoothly. Check out our Coder releases on GitHub for full details on the latest patches. Found a bug? Tag it here to let us know!
That concludes this month’s Release Recap. We can’t wait for you to try out our new features!
